Typical Use

Designed for equipment whose gland or groove is specified for AS568-230. Depending on the equipment design, this series is commonly encountered in compatible valves, pumps, hydraulic cylinders, pressure-control equipment and downhole service tools.

Oilfield Application Note

AS568-230 is used by some oilfield customers as a sealing size in compatible Sub and related downhole-tool assemblies. For these matched designs, 90 Shore A NBR is commonly selected for petroleum and hydraulic-fluid service, while 90 Shore A FKM may be selected when higher temperature or broader fluid compatibility is required. This is an application example, not an OEM fit guarantee; verify the groove, mating dimensions, pressure, temperature and fluid before ordering.

Ordering and Fit Verification

An AS568 dash number defines size, not universal equipment compatibility. Confirm groove dimensions, squeeze, stretch, clearance, pressure, temperature, fluid compatibility and backup-ring requirements before ordering or installation.

Material Options

Available materials include Buna-N / NBR, HSN / HNBR, and FKM / Viton®-type compounds.

Buna-N / NBR is the most common material for general oilfield O-rings and sealing rings. It is suitable for oil, water, drilling fluid, and standard industrial sealing applications.

HSN / HNBR is used when better heat, abrasion, aging, and sour gas / H2S resistance is required. It is commonly selected for more demanding oilfield service.

FKM / Viton®-type provides better high-temperature and chemical resistance for selected oils, fuels, and chemical media.

Standard hardness is usually 90 Shore A unless otherwise specified. Please confirm size, hardness, material, groove dimensions, and service conditions before ordering.

Applications

Used for oilfield O-ring and sealing ring applications, including FIG 206 sealing rings, flowline equipment, repair kits, valve service, pressure pumping equipment, well service tools, and general industrial sealing applications.
