Swivel Joint Repair Kit Inspection Checklist

Royal Way

Repeated rotation, pressure cycling, contamination and handling can affect both the soft seals and metal components of a swivel joint. A repair kit is only one part of the maintenance decision. The complete joint must be inspected against the equipment manufacturer’s limits.

Identify the joint

Record the manufacturer, style or model, nominal size, figure or pressure class, part number and any revision marking. Photograph the full assembly and each marking. Do not select a kit only from nominal diameter.

Inspect during disassembly

Follow the manufacturer’s safety procedure and confirm the line is isolated and depressurized. Keep seals, bearings, balls and spacers in order. Note seal orientation and the position of vent or lubrication features before cleaning.

  • Inspect seal grooves for corrosion, scoring and packed contamination.
  • Check races, balls and bearing surfaces for pitting, flattening or uneven wear.
  • Inspect threaded and retained connections for damage.
  • Check bodies and elbows for erosion, cracks or deformation.
  • Measure critical dimensions when wear is suspected.

Replacing seals does not restore worn bearing races or damaged pressure-containing parts. Escalate those findings to the responsible equipment engineer.

Match the repair kit

Royal Way standard Swivel Joint repair kit material choices are NBR and HNBR. Confirm the kit bill of materials, component count, dimensions and equipment reference. Material choice must be based on medium, temperature, pressure cycle and motion; a material label alone is not proof of suitability.

Assembly and verification

Use approved cleaning and lubrication methods. Avoid sharp tools that can scratch grooves. Confirm seal orientation, ball count and any loading procedure from the equipment manual. After assembly, verify movement and test the joint according to manufacturer and site requirements. The assembly rating cannot be assigned from the kit.

For identification, submit equipment markings, joint photos, removed parts, operating conditions, quantity and destination through Request Quote. Royal Way will flag missing fitment information before quotation.
