What AS568F defines
The SAE standard specifies inside diameters, cross-sections, tolerances and size-identification codes for O-rings used in sealing applications and for straight-thread tube-fitting boss gaskets. The dimensions and tolerances can be used with different elastomeric materials when suitable tooling is available.
An AS568 dash number identifies size. It does not select the compound, hardness or application, so those details must be confirmed separately.
